Hi there! I’m Michael Brown and I want to share with you how I became focused on health and fitness and helping others to a healthy lifestyle. Personal training, fitness and health is my PASSION. I want to help as many people as I can change their lifestyles.
I'm a native of Washington DC, I starred in basketball and track at Archbishop Carroll Sr. High School.
I then went on to Mount Saint Mary’s University on a basketball scholarship where I helped deliver the schools first Northeast Conference Title in 1995. After college I went on to play in various semi-pro leagues and basketball tournaments all over the country. In 2009 at 282 lbs, I ruptured my patella tendon playing basketball. During the rehabilitation process I did some serious self assessment and realized that my lifestyle had to change. My road to recovery after my injury and surgery is what led me to my passion, fitness and health. I tell my clients, you have to be comfortable, with being uncomfortable. In order to prepare for your fitness and health journey, it first starts with your mindset.
You have to prepare yourself mentally for what you’re going to endure physically during your fitness journey. From that point on, I embraced a healthy lifestyle and daily exercise. In 2013, I became a Certified Personal Trainer and worked at Fitness Motivators for nearly two years. During that time I created Hoops & Health Inc, which specialized in basketball training, as well as personal training. Turning my focus more towards personal training, I decided to rebrand my business in December 2017, and Legacy Personal Training was birthed.
During your health and fitness journey there will be times when you won’t feel like working out, times when you don’t want the food that’s on the meal plan or when you just want to quit...but don’t do it. You have to realize, this is for the betterment of your health, ultimately your life. YOU are too important to give up on yourself, remember self love is an essential part of your journey.
LIFE is about accomplishing your goals, big or small, whether it's fitness, health, family, or work goals. In order to accomplish your goals you have to first COMMIT, then you have to move towards completing those goals. And with a series of small wins you can successfully accomplish all your goals. Remember it starts with your MINDSET.
I’m here to help you along your FITNESS and HEALTH journey. We will work together as a team, to reach your goals. I can work with you, to accommodate your home and work schedules, whether it’s in person training, at home or at the gym, online and even outside (weather permitting). You will have access to an awesome workout plan customized for you and your personal goals, along with a nutrition plan. Once you set your mind on becoming healthier and more fit, your body will thank you. Being fit and healthy is a choice, that becomes a lifestyle.
